assaabloy.com 29 Door controls Legislation EN 1158 – Door coordinator devices A double doorset with rebated meeting stiles must close in the correct sequence to achieve effective fire compartmentation in buildings. This is achieved by using UKCA / CE marked door coordinator devices which meet EN 1158. These devices independently control both door leaves, ensuring double doors close in the correct order. Some of our Cam-Motion® door closing devices can be installed with mechanically coordinated guide rails which meet the requirements of EN 1158. Coordinators and optional smoke detectors can be installed with a range of our electromagnetic hold-open systems, making them suitable for fire and smoke protection doors. EN 1158 classification key Grading scope EN 1158:1997+A1:2002 FIRE BEHAVIOUR AND RESISTANCE Having successfully completed a fire test to EN 1634-1 Grade 0: Not suitable for use on fire/smoke door assemblies Grade 1: Suitable for use on fire/smoke door assemblies (0/1) SAFETY All door closers are required to satisfy the requirement of safety in use. Only Grade 1 is identified. (1) CATEGORY OF USE Only Grade 3 category of use is identified for electronically powered hold-open devices and door coordinating devices. For doors used by the public and others, with little incentive to take care, i.e. where there is some chance of misuse of the door. (3) TEST DOOR MASS/SIZE Five door mass grades and related hold-open power sizes are identified (refer to power size table opposite). Where an electrically powered hold-open device and door coordinator device is suitable for a range of door closer power sizes, both the minimum and maximum power sizes shall be identified. (5/8) NUMBER OF TEST CYCLES Two test durations are identified for devices manufactured to this standard: Grade 5: 50,000 test cycles. For all electrically powered hold-open devices Grade 8: 500,000 test cycles. 1. For electrically powered hold-open and free-swing door closers and devices that contain operating arms 2. For door coordinator devices incorporated in, or for use in conjunction with, automatic swing door operators, and for devices incorporated in a door close (0-4) CORROSION RESISTANCE Corrosion resistance to EN 1670 Neutral Salt Spray test and operation of the product at extreme temperatures. Five grades are identified: Grade 0: No defined corrosion resistance Grade 1: Mild resistance Grade 3: High resistance Grade 2: Moderate resistance Grade 4: Very high resistance (3-7) Door closer power size DC power size Max door width Max door weight EN 3 950mm 60kg EN 4 1100mm 80kg EN 5 1250mm 100kg EN 6 1400mm 120kg EN 7 1600mm 160kg The above power sizes can be applied in three different closer types 1) Fixed – 1 power size only 2) Template – multiple power sizes by moving the closer body along the door face 3) Variable – Infinite adjustment within range of sizes Fixed sized closers have 1 digit in the third classification box, template closers list all possible grades in the third classification box, variable closers show the maximum and minimum grades in the third classification box.
