WHAT WILL MY ASSESSOR DO? Communicate with you and your employer with appropriate expertise and knowledge. Agree an assessment plan with you and help you gather evidence to meet the qualification requirements. Give you the opportunity to contribute to your Individual Learning Plan and Progress Reviews. Give your Employer/ Manager the opportunity to contribute to your Individual Learning Plan and Progress Reviews. Help you identify any training opportunities. Support you through your qualification. Assess you in your workplace by observing you working, discussing your work activities and reviewing your work based evidence. Making assessment decisions and explaining their decision to you – through ongoing Progress Reviews. WHAT IS AN INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE (IQA)? An IQA will: Provide additional support to you and your assessor during the assessment process. Ensure your assessor is following the correct assessment procedures. Ensure that your assessor is making assessment decisions and your evidence meets the qualification standards. Monitor the assessment of your portfolio. Be a qualified IQA with appropriate knowledge of your occupational area. Liaise with the Awarding Organisation on your behalf and liaise with your Employer/ Manager if required. May attend your assessment visit to observe you being assessed (and may wish to speak to you). It is important to note that the IQA is there to monitor your assessor and NOT you; in order to ensure that your qualification is appropriate, and you are satisfied with the assessment process. WHAT IS EXTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE (EQA)? An EQA works directly for the Awarding Organisation to ensure that the Centre meets all the standards set by the authorities. An EQA will: Ensure all assessments made by our assessors meet the appropriate standards. Ensure that we are following the correct assessment and verification procedures. Be a qualified EQA with appropriate knowledge of your occupational area. Complete regular audits of our Centre and liaise with a sample of our candidates to gather feedback. Report to the Awarding Organisation about their audit. May attend your assessment visit to observe you being assessed (and may wish to speak to you). It is important to note that the EQA is there to monitor your assessor/IQA and the Centre and NOT you; in order to ensure that your qualification is appropriate and you are satisfied with the assessment process. 5 THE NVQ PROCESS
