Camp Suisse - Ski and Snowboard

THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME

2 - Camp Suisse Hello! Thank you for your interest in Camp Suisse Ski & Snowboard. letter from directors Here at Camp Suisse, we simply love what we do. We are extremely excited about Ski Camp 2024 and are counting down the days until we can hit the slopes once more. We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to provide young people with such an enriching experience alongside valuable and much needed social interaction. Our ski and snowboard program is a non-stop adventure incorporating great fun après-ski and evening activities as well as the opportunity to ski and snowboard in the most incredible environment. All of this is wrapped up in 24 hour care by our incredible team of passionate and dedicated staff, many of whom have been by our side for many years and have seen hundreds of campers come through our doors. The mountains of the Alps have always provided us with an awe inspiring, unforgettable sanctuary in which our campers can thrive. This setting is even more special in wintertime as the majestic mountains are brought to life by the hustle and bustle of skiers and snowboarders. We were delighted to introduce night skiing as an evening activity for winter 2023 and know our campers will be enchanted by the magic of taking to the hills under the cloak of darkness again in 2024. Don’t worry Mums and Dads - our ski instructors come to life in the evening too ;-) We hope this brochure gives you a better idea of what winter time is like here in the spectacular Swiss Alps but if you’d like to find out more simply send us an email via info@ campsuisse.com or call the Camp Suisse team on +44 845 5191 031. 6 - Camp Suisse There’s no place like our home. Setting and accommodation Set in the heart of the Swiss Alps, Camp Suisse Ski camps are based in the picturesque village of Les Crosets (Portes du Soleil. This base is perfect for exploring what this incredible region has to offer in the winter. We are ninety minutes by car from Geneva Airport. The village of Les Crosets is situated 1700m above the Rhône Valley in the Canton of Valais. The camp is situated on the slopes, at the base of three modern chairlifts which link directly into the Portes du Soleil ski area, providing direct access onto the pistes. The Portes du Soleil is the largest interlinked ski area in Europe. Les Crosets is a quiet village with incredible rustic charm, found at the end of the mountain road. Camp Suisse Ski camp is hosted in a cosy family hotel. With space for up to 70 guests, the Camp Suisse camp has accommodation across two floors, all centred around comfy lounge style common areas. Male and female guests are housed separately in spacious and comfortable rooms, sleeping two to six people of the same age. All have private en-suite bathroom facilities. Guests benefit from a number of local facilities including easy access to the Palladium Sports complex in Champery with its indoor climbing wall, state of the art sports hall, ice rink and swimming pool. On site, campers have access to ping pong and table football, the Camp Suisse Escape Game and various areas of chill out space. Outside the camp, we have a sledging area overlooking the fabulous Dents du Midi. “ My daughters, Meera and Yara, had an unforgettable experience. They enjoyed every single moment. Everything was superior.” Kholoud

10 - Camp Suisse SKI AND SNOWBOARD Get ready to hit the slopes. “T he children love the camp. We have an amazing feeling of security and ease knowing our children are with you. We can’t thank you enough.” Each Camp Suisse Ski Camp includes 5 hours of (small group) ski or snowboard tuition per day for 5 days. Campers are divided into small lesson groups by age and experience (from complete beginner to very advanced). The composition and progress of the groups is continually monitored by our team, so that necessary adjustments can be made. The local ski area of Champéry, Champoussin and Les Crosets is part of the huge Portes du Soleil area and we ski primarily on Swiss side where the slopes are significantly quieter during the February holidays than the French side. There is always the option for the more advanced groups to ski over into France during the week. Complete beginner skiers and snowboarders spend their first few days on the beginner slopes in Les Crosets. Campers are escorted each morning and assisted in getting their skis and boards. In Les Crosets, the hotel is on the slopes at 1650m, so skis and boards are stored at the hotel. The Swiss ski school take all of the lessons and Camp Suisse staff are always present to assist and to tend to any issues that may arise. The whole camp meets for lunch at a mountain restaurant and campers are assisted by Camp Suisse staff again at the end of their ski lessons to store their skis and return to camp ready for hot chocolate and cake. 12 - Camp Suisse APRES SKI AND EVENING ACTIVITIES The fun doesn’t stop when you leave the slopes. As with all Camp Suisse camps, supervision is provided around the clock and we pride ourselves on keeping our youngsters happy, active and engaged from morning until night, whilst striking the right balance to allow our older campers some freedom and independence. After a busy day on the piste there are a range of activities available. There is the option of sledging, movies, free time (older kids) or games before dinner. After dinner the program usually looks like this: • Mondays - ice skating at the fabulous Palladium Sport Centre. • Tuesday are typically marked with a Torch lit night walk > see photo opposite or indoor climbing. • On a Wednesday evening, the hills are alive with lasers, flood lights and music as the slopes re-open for night skiing. • Our final night (Thursday) is usually marked by a pool party. “ Best camp ever’ summarises what Sofia and Nicole expressed after their first stay at Camp Suisse. Our girls are convinced that this should now be a yearly event. ” Edgar & Erika Kock There are also opportunities to visit the village and local shops with supervision for the junior campers and in small groups independently for the senior campers. In the case of severely adverse weather and closure of the pistes we will provide an alternative activity in the daytime which may include a local water park or other suitable excursion.
