Christ the King College - Prospectus 2021

11 Christ the King College Web. www.christthekingcollege.co.uk Tel. 01983 537070 10 Our curriculum enables students to follow an individual pathway, offering opportunities for our students to follow a range of subjects that suit their abilities, interests and aspirations. Academic, vocational and work related learning pathways, or a mixture of each, are offered. The targeted support for individual students begins pro-actively at the start of their journey through Key Stage 4 and not as an intervention measure at the later stages. Indeed, the engagement of parents as partners is integral to the successes of our students. Our Year 9 option system enables the majority of students to be able to study their first three choices in Key Stage 4 as we work to create a timetable that is centred and built upon the individual course choices of each student in the College. Enrichment and extension programmes are an essential part of the curriculum. It is regarded as vital that each individual student has the opportunity to learn, in the widest sense of the word, outside of the classroom. Day excursions, residential visits, off-site learning, work related learning, study weekends and retreats all have their place in developing the wholeness of the individual students. These are planned to broaden the students’ experiences and contribute to their all-round development. All students will study: English Language 02 Mathematics 04 English Literature 0 1 Science (Trilogy) 03 Religious Education 05 Subjects currently on offer at Key Stage 4 include: Business Studies Classical civilisation Dance Design Technology Performing Arts: Drama Fine Art Food Technology Media Studies Graphics Communication Physical Education Photography Textiles g c s e Child Development Creative iMedia Health & Social Care Performing Arts: Music Sports Studies Travel & Tourism V o c a t i o n a l Computer science French Geography History Latin Spanish Triple Science E B A C C The Key Stage 4 curriculum builds on the achievements, learning skills and experiences of Key Stage 3.
