As a faith-based community, the spiritual life of our students is developed, nourished and supported in a variety of ways. All our curriculum areas contribute to the development of students’ spiritual growth and the role of Religious Education as a core subject ensures that all students receive high quality teaching and learning which explores spiritual and moral issues, develops their understanding of the teachings of Christ and the Church, enables their individual faith journey to be developed and prepares them for the challenges of adulthood. As you would expect, worship is of particular importance to us. We recognise that our students and staff come from a wide range of backgrounds and can be at different places on their spiritual journeys. We are inclusive in our worship, basing the experiences for students on a shared belief in the love of God and the truth of the Gospel message, whilst recognising the richness of diversity and the differences between traditions. During the academic year, students participate in Masses, Celebrations of Holy Communion and the ecumenical services based around the liturgical calendar and in response to specific themes. Their contribution through choir, music, dance, serving, reading or in any other appropriate way is actively encouraged and Celebration Worships, held at the end of each half term, provide the whole College the opportunity to join in celebrating the unique and God given talents of our individual students. Faith in action is important to us and is clearly demonstrated in the way our College members care for and support each other. Faith is also put into effective and practical action through a wide range of fundraising activities, responding to local, national and international need, and students’ positive contribution to and involvement in the wider community.
