The parental community of Christ the King College is supportive, interested and engaged in our work; in return we strive to involve parents in the process of educating their child and try to ensure effective communication at all times. Parents are kept informed of our work through weekly letters from the Headteacher, a well maintained website, email or texting and Social Media. 23 At Christ the King College, we recognise that the step from primary school to a larger secondary school may feel daunting for children and, indeed, some parents. Long before joining us, our Transition Team visits every individual student in their own primary school and talks to their class teachers, ensuring that all relevant information about the child is gathered and prepared for their time at Christ the King College. On entering Christ the King College, students are organised into Form Groups led by experienced and caring Form Tutors. Students are helped to settle happily, and our organisation enables staff to get to know their students quickly through their daily contact. Our new Year 7 intake are eagerly anticipated by staff and current students and very quickly become part of the College family. We ensure that the transition is smooth and happy, that there is continuity to children’s learning and that our new students very quickly become part of the warm, family atmosphere that characterises being part of Christ the King College.
