West Cumbria Opportunities & Challenges 2025 86 87 Working Collaboratively to deliver the UN Sustainable Development Goals Sellafield Ltd and Cumbria Community Foundation are committed to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Developed in 2015, the 17 SDGs tackle root causes of poverty and unite us together to make a positive difference to both people and planet. The goals are based on five pillars for sustainable development: people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership and focus on actions such as ending poverty, fighting inequality and addressing the urgency of climate change. Thinking globally, acting locally. By working collaboratively to address the needs identified in this report we can achieve something bigger, a global vision that starts with local grassroots change. Local charities and community organisations may be small in size, but in West Cumbria their collective work is playing a significant role in meeting these global goals.
