RECENT PROJECTS Programme and Project Partner for Sellafield Delkia has landed one of the first major packages of work from the multi-billion framework Programme and Project Partner for Sellafield - for the Sellafield Product and Residue Store Retreatment Plant (SRP). The package includes the design, build and test ancillary instrumentation control system to SRP Gloveboxes. Key deliverables include: concept and detailed design; early procurement and supply chain management; safety related systems and substantiation with support safety case; liaison with IC and process authority; full integration, works testing and delivery to client. “Delkia demonstrated its breath of expertise, facilities and personnel to deliver this critical package for SRP.“ Richard Etheridge, Senior Project Manager for the SRP MEICA, Morgan Sindall. Marc Pantoni, the package lead, said: “their demonstration of technology advances, processes for this design and build project were to very high standards. The project will be delivered via Delkia’s local facilities in West Cumbria.
RECENT PROJECTS Reliable, low-cost radiometric surveillance equipment developed by Delkia Delkia have developed a radiometric surveillance system (RSS) in partnership with alarm equipment manufacturer Omniflex. “Using Omniflexeterm M3E hardware, we’ve developed an RSS solution that allows for trend analysis and data monitoring in real-time. The system can both initiate an evacuation and lock down the client’s facility by using audible and visual warning units that are individually rated to SIL-2 level. This is all at an affordable cost, which has removed a common barrier to small scale RSS implementation,” says Mark Sisson, Nuclear Relationship Manager.“We combined our experience in software development and systems integration with Omniflex’s extensive knowledge of interfacing to all types of radiation monitors and technical support,” adds Sisson.“In an industry where safety is paramount, partnerships like these create the technology that ultimately protect assets, people and the environment from preventable radiation exposure. Long may it continue.”
RECENT PROJECTS Robotics Our breadth of experience can be seen in a recent project where Delkia worked closely with world-renowned robotics pioneer Kawasaki, on the development, integration and testing of software to control a robotics arm used in nuclear waste categorisation. Delkia were responsible for the software development, integration and testing of the system to help control the movements and safetycritical functions of the robot. “We’ve been tasked with building and optimising the system prior to active commissioning,” says Mark Sisson, Nuclear Account Relationship Manager. “Build-to-print contracts like these are great opportunities for us to combine our experience in software development and integration with Kawasaki’s extensive technical input and accessible engineer support.” “Delkia maintains a high standard of technical consultancy, honed from years of industry experience. This collaboration has already resulted in a preprogrammed robot with excellent control and functionality,” said Stuart Cheyne, UK Marketing and Sales Manager at Kawasaki Robotics.“The final model will be able to sort and manage different categories of nuclear waste, making it safer and more cost-effective than current industry processes.”
OUR CUSTOMERS Delkia is proud of our client list. We value partnership working and our mission is to deliver innovative value-for-money products and services to customers to enable safe and secure operations.
