Company Profile Carbonbit is a UK based multi-disciplinary sustainability consulting firm focusing on net zero, ESG and the circular economy. Their Sustainable Development Goal aligned approach helps organisations stay compliant and implement sustainability best practice to minimise the environmental impact of their operations. Services range from international renewable energy projects, energy efficiency consulting, environmental compliance, carbon foot printing, carbon offsetting and ethical auditing services. Their approach helps maximise environmental sustainability, minimise risk and optimise commercial opportunity. The Project In order to meet the UK net zero target by 2050 or earlier, strategies around investment, procurement and project evaluation will play a central role. This project identifies current failings in net- zero strategies, focussing on investment and procurement in sub-national government and SME's. Understanding carbon metric use, net zero pathways and decision-making strategy is necessary to help foster 'optimal' net zero carbon expenditures based on internal carbon pricing and UK government appraisal guidance. The ambition of this project is to assess investment-and-procurement- based (Scope 3) net zero strategy, and ignorance, and develop educational and internal carbon pricing tool support for organisations tasked with achieving net zero. Millie Prosser Millie graduated top of her class from Lancaster University with a first-class degree in Natural Sciences, winning best LEC dissertation in her year which explored local government Climate Emergency declarations. Her current research project builds on this, seeking to inform robust net zero strategies which account for carbon in procurement and investment decisions.
