Emily Faludy Fine Art - Open Studio 2020

Welcome In lieu of a physical Open Studio this year, I am very happy to share with you this virtual show of recent plein air works, spanning from 2018 to the present. I have taken the last few months of lockdown as an unexpected opportunity, a way of going deeper into subject matter which although familiar to me personally, I have artistically overlooked in favour of more obviously exciting or exotic subjects. These formed a collection of works which I loosely termed the ‘Close to home’ series. It was a wonder to experience and document the turning of the seasons at such leisure, and I found much freedom in exploring the same subject over and over in depth. My favourite of these works form part of this show. I will miss having you as my guests in the studio this summer, but present this catalogue and accompanying preview video as an offering which I hope goes some way to giving a feel of the work I have been making since you last visited. Painting outside, witnessing the changing light and capturing the atmosphere, is a great joy to me and I hope you take pleasure from looking at the paintings.
