Any product using CO₂ will require a separate gas cylinder which will need to be sourced locally and are expensive and heavy. Advantages of CO₂ are that the gas evaporates quickly so there is no lingering smoke. The performance of CO₂ products is affected by the humidity and temperature, the dryer and warmer it is the quicker the effect disappears. Smoke based products are a great option if there is to be a lot of repetitive firing so you save on consumable costs, or if you’re on tour it saves the headache of having to source CO2 at each venue.
