The Learning Support Department liaises with all staff to ensure that students’ needs are identified and supported. We provide a range of support including: • One-to-one support with specialist teachers/study support mentors • Small group out of class support with specialist teachers/study support mentors • In class study support assistant for students with specific needs • Assessments for exam access arrangements, carried out by an inhouse specialist assessor • A well-resourced study support suite where students can work in a quiet area with appropriate equipment and software packages • Communication support workers (via the local authority) to provide support for deaf/hearing-impaired students • Exploration of assistive technology to enable independent learning • Study skills courses to help students develop the skills required to succeed in their subjects The College is committed to ensuring that people with disabilities and/or learning difficulties are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged and that reasonable adjustments to provision are made. Achievement Tutors As part of supporting your achievement at College you will have a personal tutor who will act as a coach to provide you with individualised support in all aspects of your studies. They are your main point of contact and someone who will monitor and review your progress through attendance, punctuality, and subject grades. They deliver our highly regarded tutorial programme and offer bespoke support for your whole time with us. They will motivate, guide, and challenge you, helping you set and review learning targets to realise your full potential. Cedar and Parent Portal Cedar is our intranet system that allows parents access to their child’s class and exam timetables, student attendance data, study programme details, and career aspiration notes. Financial Support We know that moving into further education can be a difficult time for anyone and we want to ensure that everyone has exactly the same opportunities across the board. We believe that there should be no barriers to learning, particularly financial barriers, and we intend to eliminate these as far as possible within our sixth form. Funds can be provided to help towards the cost of travel, meals, books, equipment and essential materials needed for your courses.
