NOTREDAMECOLL.AC.UK 17 Career Support Our Careers Department will provide you with impartial advice and guidance at every stage of your academic journey, enabling you to make and carry out effective career decisions. The team support students with career planning, higher education applications, interview skills, job searches, finding apprenticeships, volunteering opportunities, gap year planning, and CV writing, through one to one guidance, group workshops, and online resources. Partner and Associate Universities and Employers They organise key annual events including the Careers Fair, STEM Fair, Higher Education Day, and Lower Sixth Progression Parents’ Evening. The team regularly invite motivational speakers into college from a wide range of industries and universities, arrange external visits, and help students to find work experience placements. They create a series of careers tutorials for every year group at Notre Dame, to support their progression and career planning. Work Experience Work experience is not only valuable in its own right but also essential if students hope to apply to certain university courses (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Teaching, Veterinary Science etc). All students have the opportunity to complete a work experience placement during their time at College. There are certain vocational subjects where work placements are compulsory, and these will be highlighted to students at various points such as open events, enrolment, and induction.
