29 NOTREDAMECOLL.AC.UK WHAT DO I NEED TO STUDY THIS COURSE? Grade 4 in GCSE English Language and successful completion of an audition to assess suitability. Information about the audition process will be provided at interview. WHAT WILL I STUDY? Acting is a very practical subject which focusses on the development of the actor’s body, voice and imagination. The course will show you what life would be like as a professional actor and how you would approach rehearsals and performance in terms of your creative responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to experience techniques in character development, physical theatre, play reading, and engaging with and communicating an intention to an audience using your physical and vocal skills. WHAT NEXT? This acting course is designed to give you a foundation to prepare for a career in performing, with a specialist focus on developing your skillset for further acting training at university or an accredited drama school. All assessments are designed to be vocational, which means your lessons are taught in such a way as to show you how you’d work professionally as an actor whilst keeping up to date written work about your skills development. Grade 4s in GCSE/Level 2 Science and a grade 4 in GCSE English Language and Maths. WHAT WILL I STUDY? You will learn how to perform various practical techniques used in industry, medicine and research. Through these you will develop the transferable higher order skills that are valued by higher education providers and employers. The course is 50% coursework and 50% exam. The units covered are Principles and Applications of Science 1 (Exam), Practical Scientific Procedures (Coursework), Science Investigation Skills (Practical exam), Lab Techniques (Coursework), Principles and Applications of Science 2 (Exam), Investigative Project (Coursework), Diseases and Infections (Coursework) and Medical Physics (Coursework). WHAT NEXT? There are skills shortages in the science and technology sectors. 40,000 vacancies need filling. Applied Science students have progressed on to a range of university courses such as Biomedical Sciences, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Radiotherapy, Animal Sciences, and Nursing. DID YOU KNOW?
