You will need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including GCSE English Language and GCSE Maths. WHAT WILL I STUDY? In year one, you will find out why money is important. You will focus on what money is and how it can affect life choices. You will gain the ability to plan and manage your financial needs in the medium and long-term. You will learn about the importance of budgeting and financial planning to fulfil your future aspirations. In the second year, you will study the importance of financial sustainability for the individual, to enable the development of skills to make sure that an individual’s financial planning is adaptable. You will learn about external factors that might affect financial plans. You will also study the financial services system. You are assessed through external examination of four units over two years. WHAT NEXT? This course is a stepping stone to careers in the financial services industry, such as banking, accountancy or insurance. FINANCIAL STUDIES DID YOU KNOW? Grade 6 or above in GCSE English Language and preferably GCSE English Literature. WHAT WILL I STUDY? English Literature offers you the opportunity to explore a wide variety of poems, plays and novels, from modern pieces by new and innovative authors to writers such as Shakespeare. You will be encouraged to develop your own opinions and be shown how to search literature for evidence to support your ideas. You will study Love Through the Ages for paper one and Texts in Shared Contexts for paper two, assessed through examination. You will also undertake the Non-Examined Assessment (NEA). This will take the form of an independent critical study of texts across time. WHAT NEXT? English is a valuable ‘all purpose’ subject, leading to many HE courses and future careers in a variety of areas including law, science and medicine.
