Preface(to parents/adults) This is my intended guide for children… Parental, or adult research with them will give the means, to a better understanding of waste management… Being a part of efficiently assisting Earth, and her inhabitants.
Hi, it’s me Tregon, having read about me and my family, and how helpful we are to all living things; as well as about Begon and his cousin, and their natural process in being helpful even to us trees. I, would now like to tell you about something else, I need your help with, this place call Earth, home to all.
Now, as a tree, my leaves are useful as they turn sunlight into food, as one of my special needs. But at a certain time of the year, I will lose them before winter comes, in readiness for new ones in spring.
When they fall to the ground, they become known to people as rubbish. But, as my leaves break down into the soil eventually (just as parents can blend fruits into juice, by breaking them down for you) with time they become useful.
This, will make the soil good for other plants or flowers to grow, and who knows a new home for insects or a good hiding place. This is known as natural rubbish or mulch, and anything that can be reuse to make something else, (known as recycling) is good rubbish.
People enjoy drinks, but what happens to the bottles or cans, or the packets when crisps are eaten. Even broken, or no longer needed toys and batteries, what do people do with them? Remember, there is natural recycling like my leaves, and there is also the way of melting things down, to make new things. It’s different, but as things are being reused/recycle, it’s still good rubbish.
Any rubbish that can not be reused or recycle, will sit in the ground and become a problem. Maybe not straight away, but in time, this is known as bad rubbish, and a lot of these things are used daily by people. When they do break down, the soil can be spoilt, not good for insects, fish, trees, flowers, animals, or people.
Things, that do not break down well in the soil, will in turn spoil the water we all need for drinking. This will also cause the seas, and the oceans to be spolit as well, which we all have need of living on Earth.
Parental or adult support is needed… What is rubbish? Where does it come from? What is good rubbish? (reuse/recycle) What is bad rubbish? (not reused/recycled) What is done with bad rubbish? Will it be bad for Earth and all living things? What are superworms? What do they eat? Is this the way forwards to help Earth, our home?
There will always be rubbish, but packing things well will help, as well as getting rid of waste in a good way. So, as not to harm the Earth and her inhabitants, (sounds like) in-habi-tants it’s what, we who all live on, or inhabit Earth are known as. As people, let’s try and find a way so that the damage is not so bad, on the lives of us all, reuse and recycle for Earth.
Inhabitants who can! As inhabitants of Earth, your legacy is to inspire and teach, the up and coming generations, the importance of good waste management… As people, rubbish is a part of our infrastructure but we don’t need it to take over. Allowing, that to be the case will be detrimental to us all, especially Earth. Asktolearn.co.uk Phone:02076897497 Email:info@asktolearn.co.uk
