Unless a specific Urn, Casket or Vessel is selected or supplied to us, the cremated remains will be released to you in the cardboard, bio-degradable container supplied by the crematorium. Please note the following:- ● We will only release cremated remains to our applicant or another person specified by the applicant at the time of making funeral arrangements. ● We will only retain cremated remains for 30 days once we have informed you that they have been brought into our care, after this period additional fees will apply. (See pg???) ● Cremated remains not collected from us after a period of 1 year will, at our discretion, be loosely interred without ceremony in accordance with National Association of Funerals Directors guidelines. Retain at the Crematorium for scattering/interment in the Gardens of Remembrance All our local crematoria have the option to retain cremated remains for interment in the Gardens of Remembrance, the fee for this is included within the cremation fee. Please note that the cremated remains are always loosely interred and once interred in the gardens cannot be exhumed at a later date. It is important that you let us know before the funeral has taken place if you wish to witness the interment as the crematorium will usually inter the ashes within 48 hrs if noone has asked to be present. It is not necessary to have a memorial at the crematorium, but if you would like to memorialise your loved one, the crematoria offer a number of options. These may include an entry into the Book of Remembrance or a Rose bush dedicated to their memory. Due to the number of options, we encourage you to contact your chosen crematorium directly using the numbers below to arrange any form of memorial. Southend Crematorium - 01702 603 908 Basildon Crematorium - 01268 584 411 It is worth noting that most memorials offered by the local crematoria are purchased on a ‘lease’ basis that will need to be renew periodically. This can work out expensive over a period of time and if a permanent place of rest is desired, interring the ashes in one of our local cemeteries may work out as a less expensive option. ▪ Please note that cremated remains held at the crematorium will be held for 30 days without charge. Inter in a dedicated grave Most of our local cemeteries have areas for the interment of cremated remains into a dedicated grave plot. The dedicated plot will be able to accommodate between 2 - 4 sets of cremated remains and you are able to erected a small memorial over the grave with a personalised inscription. Alternatively, as a family you may already have an existing family grave into which the cremated remains can be interred. We are able to advise you on local availability and suitability, complete all necessary documentation and arrange a date and time for the interment to take place. We also offer a full masonry service and are able to supply new memorials or update and clean an existing memorial to commemorate the recently departed. It is important to recognise that if cremated remains are interred into a ‘full’ grave it may prevent another ‘full’ burial form taking place, as once the cremated remains have been interred they cannot legally be disturbed without an exhumation licence. Our fees cover the cost of a professional funeral arranger to guide you through the arrangement of the funeral, as well as the use and staffing of our facilities. Please note: These urns are turned from a single log, each urn is completely unique in apperence and will differ from that shown. 40 Cremated remains - Your options Cremated remains - Containers 41
