Alternatively, you might wish to have the service at another location (possibly a religious venue) with a shorter committal service at the crematorium or cemetery. Other venues Some people prefer to hold the funeral service at an alternative venue of personal choice, before moving on to the final place of rest. This might be a church that the deceased attended or a church where the family has traditionally honoured the lives of their loved ones. Some churches will have a churchyard, so that you can hold the service and committal at the same location. In other cases, the coffin will need to be conveyed between the service and the final place of rest.
