Parental Engagement Meet your facilitator Course Content Josh started the role of Hub Lead in September 2023. Having started as a Wave 1 partner school, before training as a Literacy Specialist, he has been through the whole process. Josh is passionate about ensuring that all staff are well equipped and empowered to support all pupils in their reading journey. Parents play a crucial role in supporting their children’s learning, and levels of parental engagement are consistently associated with better academic outcomes. The EEF suggests that effective parental engagement can lead to learning gains of +3 months over the course of a year. Yet, it can be difficult to involve all parents in ways that support children’s learning, especially if parents’ own experiences of school weren’t positive. The course will look at what participants do in school and ways to effectively engage parents and carers to maximise educational attainment. Session Details Tuesday 18th November 2025 Virtual Session 1.30pm—3pm Who is it for? Senior Leaders, EYFS Leads, Teachers
HFL Reading Fluency Meet your facilitator Course Content HFL Education has supported thousands of pupils through its hugely successful Reading Fluency Project. Struggling readers make between 18 months and 27 months progress (according to the YARC) in just 8 weeks., drawing upon their extensive experience in reading fluency instruction Our expertise in this area - and our extensive experience of working closely with hundreds of schools and settings - has taught us that many children are misdiagnosed. As a result, gaps widen, leading to further disengagement with reading. We will share our evidence-based approaches to tackle this issue headon to see not only improvements in reading comprehension, but also improvements in attitudes to reading, increasing engagement with books and book-talk. What you will gain: Experience of reading assessment practices which correctly diagnose dysfluency. Key strategies for effective teaching of reading fluency. Approaches to engage struggling readers with reading and a better understanding of the path between word reading and comprehension. Session Details Virtual session Tuesday 10th February 2026 1.30pm - 3pm The course is aimed at: Senior Leaders Subject Leaders Class Teachers
