Wednesday 12th November 2025 9am-12noon OR 1pm-4pm The Norton Grange Hotel , Rochdale Talk the Talk’s foundational teacher CPD empowers staff with the skills, tools and strategies to implement Oracy as a purposeful activity in the classroom and around the school. Oracy is a powerful tool for all subjects and can be used - To inspire pupils to ‘find their voice’, express opinions, build confidence and deepen their learning. - The session is a hands-on, experiential, and practical session. - It is designed to challenge, inspire thought and ignite discussion around positive Oracy strategy. Using Oracy to Improve Literacy “Talk is a powerful tool for learning and literacy. It can improve reading and writing outcomes, enhance communication skills, and increase students’ understanding across the curriculum” EEF The training explores the role of oracy in improving literacy in all subjects. In particular the session focusses on: The necessity for subject specific ‘Talk Structures’ such as sentence starters and prompts etc. Using talk in small groups and whole classes to improve reasoning. The fundamentals of metacognitive talk in improving literacy. How to deliberately sequence talk activities. Improving pupils’ oral questioning.
