Before you set sail why not explore Borrans Park? Walking across Borrans Park you can find Galava, Ambleside’s Roman Fort. It dates back to the 2nd century and was built during the reign of Hadrian. Head back to Waterhead Pier where Windermere Lake Cruises run regular daily trips to some exciting locations. The steamers are a great way to travel. Combine a cruise and a visit to Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre, for a wealth of family friendly activities. There are exhibitions, special events and workshops, an indoor soft play area for children, plus lots of outdoor adventures. On the opposite shore of Windermere lies the imposing Wray Castle, a National Trust property with a difference. Here you are encouraged to interact with the space and even run around dressed up as a knight! If you are a Beatrix Potter fan you can sail to Bowness-on-Windermere and visit the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction to experience her tales first hand.
