Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 to eplace a wooden one that crossed the River Leven. Situated at the very southern tip of Windermere is Fell Foot, owned and run by the National Trust. This Victorian park with cafe and boat hire offers a great base to explore from. Just as its name suggests, the village of Lakeside is at waters edge - in this case, Windermere’s southern shore. It is a small settlement and an amazing gateway for a range of attractions and sightseeing cruises on Windermere.
