Triangle Aircraft Services - Climate Neutral Strategy

14 Much of the mysterious andmagical cloud forests found in the Peruvian Tropical Andes is degraded, deforested, and threatened by climate change. But, through local community-based conservation and meaningful part- nerships, these forests can recover. Rainforest Partnership is an impact and data-driven international non-profit dedicated to protecting trop- ical rainforests, the lungs of our planet and thus, a critical factor in its health. Rainforest Partnership works directly with rainforest communities to build sustain- able economies while protecting and regenerating forests. Rainforest Partnership - Cloud Forest Project, Peru The Amazon Basin alone stores 400 million tons of CO2 per year. That is about 25% of all carbon stored on land. It also produces 20% of the world’s oxygen. By empowering local people to conserve and protect their forests, and by leading forest restoration projects, forests can store more carbon and keep it out of the atmosphere. Deforestation and land use change emit a lot of carbon; preventing this is a key solution for cli- mate change mitigation. Forest restoration builds back degraded forests’ carbon sequestration abilities. By replanting 20,000 native seedlings across 140,064 acres of land, Rainforest Partnership and local partners will protect and restore the health of the cloud forests, preserving its ability to capture and store immense amounts of carbon and protecting the unique and in- credible biodiversity living in the cloud forests of Junín.
