It is home to a Mediaeval castle built by the Welsh in the mid 13th Century. The castle divides the town into 2 with a pebbly beach to the west and a lovely sheltered mainly sandy beach to the east. The countryside around is breathtaking with awesome mountain scenery of Snowdonia and delightful gardens and castles at every turn. We start with a local departure by coach and make our way to Criccieth and the George IV Hotel. This is set on the High Street in the centre of town with magnificent views towards the sea and castle.
