Winchester – the ancient capital of England, full of mediaeval character and buildings including the famous cathedral – the burial place of Jane Austen. The Winchester Cathedral Christmas markets is set in a unique location next to the cathedral and takes inspiration from the traditional German Christmas markets with traders from all over the UK selling gifts, decorations and festive food. During the late afternoon/early evening we make our way to the Holiday Inn, Fareham for 1 night dinner, bed & breakfast (3 course, 3 choice buffet dinner). We take you firstly to Liverpool with time to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and attractions of ‘The Beatles’ city. The Christmas markets will have an array of stalls selling Christmas gifts and stocking fillers with a selection of food stalls and plenty of bars for you to maybe sample a hot cider. Maybe grab a bite to eat before we re-join the coach and make our way to the St Helens hotel where rooms are booked on a bed & breakfast basis for the night in rooms with private facilities. On day 2, after breakfast, we make our way to Manchester. The areas of Albert Square and St Ann’s Square are transformed into a Winter Wonderland. This shopping experience promises to offer a range of Christmas decorations, Arts and Crafts including wooden toys, European dolls and teddies, jewellery and pottery, European wines, Gluhweins, beers and local food delicacies. There will be time to shop until you drop before we head home in the late afternoon.
