We start with a local departure and make our way to Normandy. Accommodation has been reserved at the 3* Holiday Inn Express, Rouen Centre Rive Gauche. The hotel is only 3 tram stops away from the historic centre of town. All rooms have private facilities and features include a bar. During your stay we have included these great excursions: • A visit to Deauville and Trouville – both favourite seaside resorts for the Parisiennes. We then continue to the quaint port town of Honfleur, painted many times by artists including Claude Monet • A guided, short visit to Rouen itself. See Notre Dame Cathedral with its splendid Butter Tower, immortalised in paintings by Claude Monet. Take a stroll to admire the famous Gros Horloge – a huge astronomical clock dating back to the 16th century and in the centre of the old market square stands the church of St Joan de Arc. We start with a local departure for our journey via the cross Channel ferry or Eurotunnel to France. We continue to the greater Paris area where accommodation has been reserved for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. On day 2 we take you to Giverny. Here you can discover some of the sights, sounds and smells that inspired some of the world’s greatest artists. Monet lived here for over 40 years. The artist’s house and gardens have been restored and re-planted to their original beauty. The sights include the lily pond, the subject of many of Monet’s paintings. From Giverny we venture onwards to Rouen – the restored capital of upper Normandy with its Gothic cathedral and famous mechanical clock. Return to Paris for the night.
