There is a bar and restaurant and, to round things off, an indoor heated pool. The scenery on this picturesque line is breathtaking - from Paignton along the spectacular English Riviera Geopark coast line, through the picturesque stations at Goodrington and Churston (non-stopping), then on through the wooded slopes of Long Wood bordering the Dart Estuary to Kingswear. A short foot passenger ferry takes you across the river Dart to the historic town of Dartmouth; home to the Britannia Royal Naval College, Bayards Cove, Butterwalk and Dartmouth Castle (England’s first Castle to have guns as its main armament). Our coach will pick you up in the late afternoon for the return back to the hotel. Day at leisure for you to explore Paignton. On day 4 we bid Paignton a fond farewell and travel to Bath. There will be time for a brief look around before we recommence our journey home, arriving back later on. Paignton - Preston Sands The Gower Peninsular Please Note: If any changes are made regarding the ‘cosy break’ and steam train - no compensation will be payable. The stylish waterfront metropolis of Swansea is home to attractions such as the National Waterfront Museum where the story of Wales over the last three centuries unfolds. It also boasts the beautiful Clyne Gardens featuring exotic plants, the interesting Dylan Thomas Centre and Plantasia – a huge glass pyramid housing tropical flowers. Further round the coast the Gower Peninsular captivates all who visit. We start with a local departure and make our way west. Accommodation has been reserved at the 4* Mercure Swansea Hotel where you can relax on the doorstep of stirring Welsh countryside, set among landscaped gardens and tranquil lake views. This 4* hotel is perfect for exploring the nearby hills and coast and is also only a few miles from Swansea centre. All rooms are well appointed with private bathroom. There is a bar and Brasserie restaurant with inspiring views of the surrounding area. During your stay we have included these excursions: • We explore our surroundings taking in the Swansea Bay area with its sweep of sandy beach. From here we continue to quaint Mumbles – gateway to the Gower Peninsular and home to Oystermouth Castle and the 18th century lighthouse. We proceed into the Peninsular where you will be awestruck by the golden sands, limestone cliffs and wild moorland – little wonder the Gower was designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. • A visit to Tenby. This enchanting Mediaeval hamlet is enclosed by ancient walls with a maze of narrow streets, a 15th century church and a fascinating Tudor merchant’s house – not forgetting beautiful blue flag beaches.
