With a ride on the illuminated steam train and a visit to the Exeter Christmas market this should be a pre-Christmas weekend to remember! Our special trip starts with a journey south. Accommodation has been reserved for 3 nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis with turkey & tinsel theme at the popular Queens Hotel. This boasts a prime location, 200 yards from the sea front and town centre. All rooms have private facilities, colour TV and tea / coffee making facilities. There is a bar and restaurant and an indoor heated pool (subject to availability). The hotel has arranged a PreChristmas programme to include nightly entertainment: bingo, cabaret act, games night and festive food with tea/coffee etc... (subject to change) During your stay we have also included these great excursions: Journey on the “steam train of lights” departing from Queen’s Park Station, Paignton. This magical, illuminated journey continues along the line between Paignton and Kingswear with vintage carriages decorated with thousands of lights. The highlight, after departing Churston station, the train passes through a 450 metre Greenway tunnel to the enchanted forest alive with new light displays and scenes. You will catch a glimpse of Dartmouth’s twinkling riverside as you return, with an opportunity to disembark at Kingswear to take in the views. Stroll along the Quayside or visit the shops, boutiques and cafes on cobbled Gandy Street. The Christmas market in the courtyard at Exeter Cathedral will be displaying festive chalets, local gifts and produce, festive street food and perhaps some seasonal entertainment. There will also be a day at leisure for you to explore Paignton. On day 4 we bid Paignton a fond farewell and travel to Bath. There will be time for a brief look around before we recommence our journey home, arriving back later on.
